Tethered Oral Ties

If your child is experiencing challenges related to tethered oral ties, our team is here to offer comprehensive support. Understanding the complexities of tethered oral ties, we guide you through the optimal timing for release procedure if needed, ensuring that you’re well-informed and prepared. Post-procedure, our care continues with close follow-up and dedicated post-operative care. We focus on relieving tension and promoting healing, ensuring your child’s comfort and well-being throughout the process. Our goal is to ensure a smooth, effective transition to better feeding experiences for both you and your child.

Torticollis

When your baby shows a side preference, it can potentially lead to developmental delays and flattening on one side of the head. This condition, often associated with torticollis, can arise from various factors, including birthing trauma, premature delivery, positional factors, or neck tension during fetal development. It’s important to recognize that such tension might be present even without a formal diagnosis of torticollis. This often manifests as a preference for one side during activities such as sleeping, laying down, or feeding, and typically impacts several muscles. We are here to assist you in addressing this as early as possible. Implementing a home program is crucial to ensure consistency and to optimize your child’s development. This includes exercises to strengthen muscles and improve positioning during play and sleep. Additionally, we will guide you in positioning and handling techniques that ensure your baby’s comfort and safety. Education for parents and caregivers is also a key component of our approach, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to support your child’s healthy growth and development.

Oral Motor/Feeding Therapy

Our therapy focuses on fostering stress-free and enjoyable feeding experiences for babies and their families. We use interactive sessions to create a positive, growth-oriented environment. Our playful approach includes exploring a variety of foods, enhancing oral strength, and encouraging food-to-mouth exploration. We also establish home programs for consistent progress and incorporate oral motor exercises to improve chewing, biting, and sucking skills. Safe and comfortable eating is supported with effective positioning techniques. Additionally, our therapy involves educating parents and caregivers, integrating sensory activities, and guiding food exploration to help babies develop a tolerance for different textures and flavors, all within a nurturing and safe environment.

Head Shape

Our primary goal is to support your baby’s development by enabling them to move their heads in all essential directions. Back sleeping is the safest position, it can sometimes result in prolonged pressure on the baby’s head, potentially leading to various head shape changes. These include Plagiocephaly, characterized by flatness on one side of the head due to a baby’s preference for turning their head in one direction, and Brachycephaly, where there’s flattening at the back of the head, often a result of consistent straight head positioning during sleep and play. A rarer type, Scaphocephaly, leads to a long, narrow head shape, stemming from extended pressure on both sides of the head. Such changes in head shape are frequently linked to tension in the neck, which can restrict the baby’s ability to move their head freely. Therefore, addressing any neck or body tension is essential, as it not only affects the infant’s head shape but also impacts both the infant and the parent. By focusing on alleviating this tension and promoting diverse movements, we aim to foster healthy head development in infants, ensuring their well-being and growth.

Let us assist you in turning tummy time into a valuable opportunity for your child’s development.
